The final list of 186 official civil society delegates is out!

Click here for an overview of names and organizations of  GFMD civil society delegates for 2011.

Delegates
The GFMD Civil Society Days 2011 offer space to 180 delegates of various sectors of civil society, including human rights, development, labour, diaspora and migrant organizations, academia and the private sector.

Delegates have been selected through an application process. (open from 16 August to 13 September). The selection of CSD Delegates was supervised by the Civil Society Core Group to ensure inclusive and diverse participation, taking into account sectoral, geographic, and gender diversity, broad constituency and relevant experience and knowledge on migration and development issues.

Delegates have full access to all Civil Society Days sessions and events on 29 and 30 November, as well as the Common Space on December 1. Delegates are the key participants during the Civil Society Days plenaries and break-out sessions,  have “first speaking rights” and will ultimately be the ones working towards and endorsing the final civil society statement and recommendations.

Observers to the Civil Society Days
Observers, including international organizations, international foundations and some academic institutions are welcome to the GFMD Civil Society Days by invitation only and are invited on the basis of their knowledge, experience and expertise on this year’s Civil Society themes. Observers, like Delegates, will have full access to all Civil Society Days sessions and events on 29 and 30 November, as well as the Common Space on December 1, but their roles during the CSD will be different from that of Delegates. Observers participate as “resource-persons” and do not have “first speaking rights”.  (Observer invitations will be sent out in October.)

Government Guests
Government representatives are invited to attend the opening (morning) and closing (afternoon) plenaries of the CSD, and to join for the shared Civil Society – Government reception after the closing ceremony on 30 November.  The CSD working sessions will be closed to Government Guests.

Special Guests
A number of Special Guests will be invited to attend and observe, but not necessarily participate/speak in all CSD sessions. Special Guests include representatives that fulfill a distinct role in the GFMD process, including representatives from the current Swiss Chair, and the future Chairs Mauritius and Sweden.

Media
Media organizations interested in covering the GFMD CSD can apply for press accreditation. Please send an email to registration@gfmdcivilsociety.org for more information. Media accreditation will give them access to all CSD sessions on 29 and 30 November, but not the Common Space on 1 December.
